Greetings of peace!
My name is Ryan and I am part of the steering committee for the upcoming International Youth Summit Against Racism. This being a follow-up youth process of the recently held World Conference Against
Racism (WCAR) held in Durban, South Africa last year.
We hope to hold the summit March 2003 in Singapore.
The event will be a gathering of young people around the world to discuss issues on racism and to come up with practical and specific
strategies to combat all forms of discrimination. If you would know, during the WCAR a youth summit was held where a Youth Declaration
and Program of Action was adopted.
This time we want to transorm the Youth Declaration and Program of Action into specific, practical and time-bound initiatives to be implemented by young people around the world. The summit shall also e a chance for young people to share their experiences in advocacy for human rights, peace and youth empowerment. Lastly, the summit shall be the venue to formalize and strengthen the International Youth Network Against Racism.
In line with this, we hope you could help us get more contacts of young people in your country. We would like to have a wide representation of young people, especially community-based youth organziations.
We will get in touch with you regarding this initiative. We are still on the process of conceptualizing the program of this activity
and would be very interested to hear your suggestions and comments.
I am hoping for your reply. You could reach me through ryansilv@mailcity.com. Should you have more inquiries, please contact Ms. Sheryl Wong, our International Representative for Asia (velq@hotmail.com).
In solidarity,
Ryan V. Silverio
